This morning we utilised youtube to explore the extensive amount of tutorial footage there is available. Creating the brushes is fairly simple and there a quite a few alterations you can make. I have kept good noted and diagrams so I can reference them again.

These two brushes were created as “Art Brushes”. I then adjusted them with “Scale Proportionally” and “Stretch between the Guides” to create different affects. The second lot of brushes were created from my print design flower. It can be distorted by the initial brush type and kept in scale. I feel the most effective brush was the “Stretch between the guides” as it elongated the stem but not the bud. I feel that this will be effective with any design with a longer design, it would create the effective of the one having a decorative end. The bottom brush (three flowers) was created by a scatter brush. This will keep the image design in proportion and create a trail.

This were created from “Pattern Brush” and you can chose who the corners would be shaped. This brush could create really nice borders and repeats. This would also keep the image in scale and clear.

These brushes were created in photoshop. It is easier to create brushes in Illustrator and you have more control over the outcome. The brushes can’t be created in multiple colours so start out as black. To create brushes is a similar process to creating pattern for the repeat print. These brushes I feel are more art brush like with opacity and texture.

These were also created in photoshop and were created from images I already had. The brushes have a certain opacity to them which could reflect the “see-through” aspect of the brief. However I do find a slight ghostly feel to them. I think these brushed create a more hand rendered feel to the images.

I feel that the brushes in Illustrator are more effective for then the photoshop brushes as you have more control over the colour, sizing, spacing and distortion.
