I thought I would show the developing drawing. I have now settled on a style. I create free flowing watercolour background and then add detailing in with fine liner. This style allows me to highlight important details of the architecture. The top left is a drawing of the old town in Dubrovnik and the left are India.
The old town of Dubrovnik is the pearl of the Adriatic sea. When looking from above the whole town is covered in terracotta tiles roofs surrounded by a strong wall. It shows the heritage of the city and really contrast to the images of Hong Kong.
The drawings are India are very different. The top image are drawings of modern scenes from India, the first shows the sky rise apartments that have been built to home the ever growing population. The second shows the historic Cenotaphs that are the graves of royalty. It highlights the rich history of India and also shows how historic structures are decorated. I like the idea of the contrast between the modern and the historic, there is a lot of this in HK.
